3rd EU Climate Pact Ambassadors' Night

Over 450 participants gather for Ocean at the 3rd EU Climate Pact Ambassadors' Night

An evening connecting the ocean, food and climate action, ahead of World Food Day

More than 450 participants gathered at Kinepolis Kirchberg on 12 October for the European Climate Pact Ambassadors' Night, organised by European Climate Pact Ambassador Marie-Béatrice Noble in collaboration with SOS Faim Luxembourg.

The evening brought together companies, NGOs, organisations, public institutions, educators, European Climate Pact Ambassadors and citizens around a shared concern: how to protect the ocean and preserve the ecosystems on which all life depends.

A strong community around AlimenTerre

The evening highlighted the strength of the AlimenTerre Festival community. In 2025, the festival brought together 3,500 participants, including 1,500 students, through 60 documentary screenings and with the support of 60 partners across Luxembourg.

Companies, NGOs, schools, universities and public institutions joined forces to raise awareness of the impact of our food choices on people and the planet.

The Ambassadors' Night was another illustration of how businesses and civil society can come together to turn awareness into action. SOS Faim Luxembourg, CELL and Sodexo were among the key supporters of the evening, alongside Ogyre, Sustainability Partner.

Bringing the ocean into focus - and onto our plates

Produced by National Geographic and narrated by Sir David Attenborough, Ocean reveals both the extraordinary beauty of marine ecosystems and the threats they face, including overfishing and the depletion of marine life. Yet the documentary also offers a message of hope, showing the ocean's remarkable capacity to regenerate when we take action to protect it.

As the film reminds us: "If we save the sea, we save our world."

The evening also highlighted the challenge of an "out of sight, out of mind" world: what happens beneath the surface can feel distant, even though the ocean is fundamental to life on Earth.

Julien Challandes, co-founder of Blutopia and European Climate Pact Ambassador, brought the discussion closer to everyday life by exploring the links between our food choices and ocean protection. Through his work as director of De l'assiette à l'océan and Les Bonnes Vivantes, he promotes more sustainable ways of eating, with a particular ambition to help one million French people discover and love seaweed as food.

The message continued at the dinner table. For the third consecutive year, Sodexo offered an entirely plant-based gastronomic menu prepared by Xavier Ozanne, with seaweed and other ocean-inspired ingredients demonstrating how sustainable food can be creative, delicious and inspiring.sation, including sustainable catering, waste reduction and accessibility.

From awareness to action

The event received the Green Business Events logo, recognising its environmentally responsible and inclusive organisation.

Ogyre, Sustainability Partner of the evening, will coordinate the collection of 457 kg of marine and coastal litter, supporting local fishers who are remunerated for collecting waste alongside their usual fishing activities.

Jennifer Feschuk calls for new European Climate Pact Ambassadors

During the evening, Jennifer Feschuk, Country Coordinator of the European Climate Pact in Luxembourg, highlighted the annual call for applications, currently open, inviting people passionate about climate and environmental action to apply to become European Climate Pact Ambassadors and help inspire change.

Join the Festival in March 2027

The AlimenTerre Festival will return from 1 to 31 March 2027, bringing together companies, NGOs, schools, public institutions and citizens through documentaries and discussions exploring the links between food, climate, biodiversity, health and social justice. Companies, NGOs and other organisations interested in contributing to the next edition are warmly invited to join the AlimenTerre community. Coordinated by SOS Faim Luxembourg, the AlimenTerre Festival uses documentary cinema to encourage dialogue and action around food, climate, biodiversity, health and social justice.

A certified sustainable event

The evening was awarded the Green Business Events logo by the General Directorate for Tourism of Luxembourg's Ministry of the Economy, recognising its environmentally responsible and inclusive organisation, including sustainable catering, waste reduction and accessibility.
